Health Care and Business Leaders Discuss Reform Options at VAHHS Annual Meeting

Stowe, VT - In a panel discussion this morning at the annual meeting of the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS), business leaders, hospital CEOs, and hundreds of others from Vermont's health care system discussed Gov. Peter Shumlin's pending health care reform proposals with key administration officials. Robin Lunge, director of health care reform, and Michael Costa, deputy director of health care reform, gave a presentation on the administration's long-term goal of creating a single-payer system.  "The discussion was an important opportunity for health care professionals and business leaders to hone in on which principles must guide this discussion and which reforms are essential to providing health care that is more affordable for every Vermonter," said Bea Grause, CEO and President of VAHHS. "In the view of Vermont's hospitals, providing more affordable access for every Vermonter and protecting patients' right to choose their doctor and hospital must be at the heart of any plan."
