Governor's Budget Proposal Includes Important Step to Make Health Care More Affordable

Resources For Fixing "Cost Shift" to Benefit Vermonters Who Purchase Insurance

Montpelier - The Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems welcomed the Medicaid funding plan that Governor Shumlin outlined in today's budget address, which is a strong step toward making health care more affordable for Vermonters. The plan, as outlined by the Governor, would put significant resources toward addressing what is referred to as the "Medicaid cost shift." In today's system, Vermonters who buy insurance on the market have been paying higher rates to make up for shortfalls in the Medicaid program.
