Administration’s Health Care Cuts Counter to Reform Principles

Vermont’s not-for-profit hospitals react to the Shumlin administration’s announcement to cut payments to health care providers who treat Medicaid patients by nearly $8 million in state funds and federal matching dollars.  VAHHS President and CEO Beatrice Grause said “An $8 million cut is inconsistent with Act 48 health care reform principles and underscores the tremendous complexity—and potential risk to patients—of investing more health care financing authority in state government.  Financing health care through government does not appear to be as simple as members of the administration have recently suggested.”
