Current Issues
The Data Process
All acute care hospitals in Vermont submit data to Explor. The data is edited for errors and converted to a common format. Inpatient and ambulatory surgery databases are created for the use of VT Explor and a copy of these databases are given to the VT Department of Health.
Confidentiality
As owners and users of medical record data, VT Explor is concerned with maintaining the privacy of the patient and their physician.
The confidentiality of information that is contained in an individual patient medical records must be preserved. This is important to protect the dignity of individual patients, and to provide a venue for quality assurance activities. Please contact Gregory Farnum at VAHHS for a copy of VT Explor's confidentiality policy.
Requesting Data from VT Explor
Data reports may be requested from VT Explor for a nominal fee, and will be released only after review by VT Explor staff to ensure compliance with our confidentiality policy.
